XV MEDITERRANEAN  CONFERENCE

Dear Lions & Leos Friends

Our friends Lions and Leos of MD 117 Greece- Cyprus, under the direction of PID Kokos Nikolaidis, CC George Papas and PCC Harris Zachariadou President of the 15th Mediterranean Conference,have the honour to organize from the 22nd to 25th of March, 2012 the 15th Mediterranean Conference.

The prestigious city of Athens, which is the cradle of Democracy and Philosophy and home of the biggest collection of Ancient Greek art, will host this important event.Our friends will undoubtedly do their best to ensure the success of this meeting and to offer us the most agreeable stay, in a legendary city, renowned for its hospitality and its particularly mild and perfect climate.Thus, it is my pleasure to invite you to participate in this Conference, in this beautiful city.

Your participation in this prestigious event of the Mediterranean Lions, will be an occasion to have fruitful discussions and to recruit and create a forum of exchange ideas and cooperation between the Lions of the two coasts of  Mare nostrum .

This Conference will represent an important moment of the history of our Lionism and will certainly enrich the debate related to the future of the Mediterranean, a debate that will unfold in a climate of cooperation and mutual respect.

Dear Lions friends.

Spring in Athens is bright.

Nature is wearing its beautiful new dress and the odours of the blossoming trees are unique. The sun usually shines and the sea is of a pure blue colour. It is in this mythical city this year that the Mediterranean Conference will take place.

In Athens, with its thousand beauties, its famous ancient monuments and within walking distance from the Acropolis hill, the Lions of the Mediterranean countries and not only, will have the chance to discuss civilization, arts and history. Also, they will speak about the environment, the birth of medicine in this blessed side of the planet, the Mediterranean and finally they will talk about Lionism, which we all serve.

Brilliant speakers will develop their subjects, distinguished Lions will negotiate Lionistic themes and significant persons of the arts and sciences will deal with culture, which was born in the Mediterranean area.

We will honour the MARE NOSTRUM, the waves of which “embrace” the coast lines of our countries.But above all these, we will have the chance to take part in several outings to museums, to the Acropolis hill, to Sounio (where you will visit the ancient temple of Neptune) and for those among you who will extend their stay for one more night, to enjoy an one-day cruise to the three islands of Argosaronikos, Hydra, Poros and Aegina, on Sunday 25th of March. The members of all clubs of MD 117 Greece-Cyprus are expecting you with love and are ready to provide you with the traditional Greek hospitality.
